Gianluigi Buffon hails his former side Juventus after Champions League win over Atletico Madrid

‘Extraordinary and moving’: Juventus icon Gianluigi Buffon hails his former side following stunning comeback win against Atletico Madrid (… after his PSG team were on the wrong side of a similar turnaround from Man United)

Juventus produced a remarkable turnaround to thrash Atletico Madrid and progress through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick as Massimiliano Allegri’s side overturned Atletico’s two-goal advantage at the Allianz Arena.

And while Paris Saint-Germain were on the wrong side of another incredible comeback at the hands of Manchester United in the French capital last week, their goalkeeper reserved some kind words for Juventus for achieving the feat.

Former Juve stalwart Gianluigi Buffon was took to Instagram to praise his former colleagues for their emphatic result against Diego Simeone’s men.

Alongside a photo of the team’s celebrations, Buffon wrote: ‘Congratulations to all! An undertaking like this is something extraordinary and moving.

‘P.S Great Mr. Allegri!!’

Buffon’s PSG were unceremoniously dumped out of the competition in front of their own fans by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

But the 41-year-old can at least take solace in the fact his former club, to whom he still has strong ties after his 17-year stint there, are in the next round and still very much in the hunt for the title.
