  • Sabina Henderson, the seven year old from Ashburn, Virginia, was identified by her parents on Monday night
  • Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the a call at the Seven Elms Farm on St. Francis Court at 6pm on Saturday 
  • Her father shared that he and his family were attending a retirement party for his father in Purceville when the accident occurred
  • Sabina and an eight-year-old boy had been swinging from a tree in a hammock, when the tree fell on the two 
  • They were both rushed to a local hospital but Sabina succumbed to her injuries 

A young girl died over the weekend when she was swinging from a hammock at a family gathering in Virginia and a tree fell on her.

Sabina Henderson, the seven year old from Ashburn, was identified by her parents on Monday night.  

‘Sabina was smart, witty girl who loved to tell jokes and make other people laugh,’ parents, Ben and Monica Henderson, said in a statement to the Loudoun Times-Mirror.

‘She was a powerful personality that lit up the room and was a memorable force for all those that met her. She was amazingly kind and thoughtful to her friends and family. 

‘Sabina was genuinely and completely loved by all that knew her. Her loss tore a giant hole in our lives that will never be mended. We will never recover from this, we will only survive.’

Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the a call at the Seven Elms Farm on St. Francis Court at 6pm on Saturday. 

They were told that two children had been swinging in a hammock when the tree that it was attached to, fell on top of the children.

Both children were airlifted to the Inova Fairfax Hospital but Sabina succumbed to her injuries.

The other child, an eight-year-old boy, was treated for minor injuries.  

Investigators have determine that the incident was a ‘tragic accident.’ 

The family has prepared to have a memorial for the girl on Friday at the Brambleton Corner Clubhouse, 42255 Palladian Blue Terrace, at 6pm.
