Girl pens letter to Ant McPartlin saying she’s ‘upset’ he won’t be on TV

A six year old girl has written a touching letter to TV star Ant McPartlin to show how much she still adores him despite his drink drive shame.

Maisie Allen was heartbroken when she learned Ant would be missing from her favourite show ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ when he went into rehab and cancelled all his TV appearances.

But after her parents explained the 42-year-old had been ‘naughty’ she decided to pen him a handwritten letter to let him know that she will always be his biggest fan.

In the letter, which Maisie secretly wrote on lined paper, she starts by saying she is Ant and Dec’s No 1 fan and goes on to say she even named her kittens after the TV presenters.

Maisie says she was ‘very upset’ when she learned that he would not be appearing on the TV for the rest of the year and adds that she would love to meet him before signing it ‘from Maisie six years old.’

Her mum Victoria was so touched by the gesture she contacted MailOnline to share the heart-warming letter and see if the note could reach Ant, who is currently in rehab after his court appearance earlier this week.

The TV star admitted he had been suffering from ‘alcohol and emotional issues’ when he was arrested for drink driving when his Mini collided with two cars in Mortlake, South West London last month.

He was found to be twice over the drink drive limit and at his court appearance pleaded guilty. He was fined a record £86,000 and banned from driving for 20 months.

Ant issued a public apology from the steps of Wimbledon Magistrates Court saying he was ‘truly sorry’ for the accident which put a four year old girl in hospital and left another child screaming out that he feared he would die.

Victoria, 33, said she had initially told Maisie that Ant would be missing from her favourite show night as he was tired and needed a rest.

But Maisie saw newspaper headlines about her favourite star and after asking questions Victoria decided to explain the real reason for his absence.

She said: ‘Maisie is very perceptive and we thought there was no point in trying to hide what happened. We told her Ant had been naughty and as a result of that he wouldn’t appear on television.

‘We explained what drink driving was and that sometimes adults do things that have consequences and have to be punished.

‘She seemed to take it all in and we knew she was heartbroken that Ant wouldn’t be on any more shows. She wanted the letter to show how much [he] means to [her].

‘A couple of days after talking with her she brought me the letter that she had written to Ant. It was so sweet of her and I said I would try to see if we could get it to him.’

The letter is all the more touching as it contains simple spelling mistakes that any six year old would make.

It begins: ‘Dear ant I am your and Decs number one fan. I am missing you on all the TV show your (sic) on.’

And just so Ant recognises her, Maisie included a crayon self portrait drawing on the reverse side of the letter with a speech bubble containing the words ‘Hello Ant Can I be your pen pal.’

Victoria, from Oswestry, Shropshire, added: ‘Maisie adores Ant and Saturday nights are special for her. She thinks he is the funniest man on TV and looks forward to seeing him. We all gather on the sofa and it’s her highlight of the week.

‘I think Maise just wanted to let him know that even though he has done something bad she still loves him.

‘We have not made light of what Ant did and have told her he had to be punished.’

Maisie told MailOnline she can’t wait to see Ant back on TV but is still happy to watch his partner Dec.

‘I know Ant has been bad but I wanted to tell him I still love seeing him,’ she said.

‘My favourite show is Saturday Night Takeaway and I love seeing him. He is so funny and makes me laugh’. MailOnline has passed the letter to Ant’s management team.
