A variety of headwear was a prominent feature of the day, with some opting for stylish broad-rimmed hats.

The day provided an abundance of opportunities for eager punters to place a bet, including the Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara group one race, along with group three races WJ Healy Stakes and Carlton Mid Tattersall’s Cup.

Jockey Blake Shinn rode the heavily backed Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott-trained favourite Prompt Response to victory in the group one race Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara, ahead of the Chris Waller-trained Shillelagh.

Shinn described mare Prompt Response as ‘a lethal horse’ afterwards.

‘She’s a real genuine Everest contender if she gets a slot,’ he told The Courier Mail.

‘She never runs out of top four, she goes great fresh and she proved today she’s a genuine Group 1 horse and people should seriously consider her. She’s just a darling.

‘Every time you ride her you know what you’re going to get. I’m glad I could ride her well today and everything worked out. The horse deserves it, the owners deserve it, Gai and Adrian’s team and I’m really satisfied to win this race today.’
