Gutiérrez to ask Hillary to resign so country can move on

Rep. Luis Gutiérrez, an Illinois Democrat, had a creative way to kill off the probes into President Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton taking place on Capitol Hill.

‘I’ll go to Hillary Clinton and you can go to Donald Trump and we’ll tell them both to resign,’ he said, looking at Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who was testifying today before the House Judiciary Committee. ‘Then we can move on as a nation from an election that never seems to end.’

Gutiérrez added that his ‘solution’ would ‘save the American taxpayers a lot of grief and a lot of money by eliminating the need for the investigations.’

Currently, three committees are investigation Russian meddling and any Trump campaign ties, while two committees are again looking into Clinton, who’s faced years of probing over her private email server and her handling of the Benghazi terror attack when she was secretary of state.

Now two House committees are looking into a uranium deal that got approved on her watch in 2010, with Republicans suggesting that donations to the Clinton Foundation and money to her husband for a paid speech reek of pay-to-play.

Now Republicans are hoping Sessions will appoint a special counsel in order to investigate Clinton-related matters, with the attorney general signaling this week that he had put top federal prosecutors on it.

This comes after President Trump said it was the ‘saddest thing’ that he couldn’t just order up a Justice Department investigation, because it would go against established norms.

Gutiérrez made mention of this when pitching his plan.

‘Your side clearly wants an investigation of Hillary Clinton and our side has been begging for months to hold hearings and start an investigation of the Trump administration and campaign’s improper ties to Mr. Putin and the Russian government,’ Gutiérrez said.

He noted how much of the public’s dough it would save to simply cancel the investigations and get the former candidates out.

‘I propose we go to the president and the former secretary of state and ask them both to resign,’ he said.

He then pivoted, explaining why, at least when it came to Clinton, his suggestion was so ludicrous.

‘Now, I did Google organizations that Hillary Clinton leads and came up zero,’ he noted. ‘So I’m not quite sure what you’re going to get her to resign from because she doesn’t appear to be in charge of anything.’

Since losing the election last year, Clinton has written a book and given public speeches, but she doesn’t have an official gig.

Trump, meanwhile, lives in the White House and is the American president.

‘Last time I checked she got three million more votes than Donald Trump, but she lost the election,’ Gutiérrez added, huffing over Trump’s Electoral College win.

‘So, I don’t know, why don’t we move on and really look at the issues,’ he concluded, noting that gun control and immigration are good contenders.
