Harvey resigns Bob Weinstein accused of sexual harassment

  • Harvey Weinstein resigned from the board of the company he found on Tuesday morning
  • That move comes nine days after he was terminated from his position by the board, which now totals just three people
  • A source tells DailyMail.com that Bob Weinstein will now take a backseat and focus of Dimension Films, the company’s profitable horror branch
  • Soon after the meeting concluded on Tuesday, Bob was accused of sexual harassment by TV producer Amanda Segel
  • She claims that Bob made repeated romantic advances towards her and asked her on a number of dates over three months in 2016
  • ‘Bob Weinstein had dinner with Ms. Segel in LA in June 2016. He denies claims that he behaved inappropriately at or after the dinner,’ said a spokesperson

The Weinstein Company board is officially down to three members, with disgraced founder Harvey resigning on Tuesday during a meeting in New York City.

In that same meeting it was determined that his brother and co-founder Bob Weinstein would take a backseat role moving forward, and not work on any Weinstein Company projects.

Bob is still expected to be involved however with Dimension Films a source tells DailyMail.com, the more profitable branch of the company known for distributing a number of profitable horror films.

That news, along with the recent investment of capital by Colony Capital and talk of a potential sale, seemed to suggest that things were starting to slightly improve for the the company.

That hope was quickly squashed however just a few hours after the meeting on Tuesday.

This time around it is Bob who is under fire, with Amanda Segel, an executive producer of the AMC series ‘The Mist,’ accusing him of sexual harassment.

Segel told Variety that Bob, who is divorced, made repeated romantic advances on her back in 2016 and often asked her out to dinner.

These requests from Bob became so frequent according to Segel that she was eventually forced to notify executives at The Weinstein Company – including COO David Glasser.

A rep for Bob denied the allegations being made by Segel, stating: ‘Bob Weinstein had dinner with Ms. Segel in LA in June 2016. He denies any claims that he behaved inappropriately at or after the dinner. It is most unfortunate that any such claim has been made.’

A rep for Glasser meanwhile says that he was never notified of an issue involving Bob and Segel.

Segel tells a much different story however, claiming that despite her repeated attempts to convey the fact that she was not interested in the executive, he would not stop asking her to join him on dates.

‘”No” should be enough,’ said the producer.

‘After “no,” anybody who has asked you out should just move on. Bob kept referring to me that he wanted to have a friendship. He didn’t want a friendship. He wanted more than that. My hope is that “no” is enough from now on.’
