Heath Ledger’s co-star shares secrets

He was catapulted to heartthrob status when he appeared the 1999 smash hit, 10 Things I Hate About You. 

And now Heath Ledger’s former co-star Julia Stiles has opened up about working with the late Australian actor. 

Julia, 36, revealed Heath would play a didgeridoo on set everyday and that was his secret talent, while revealing that some of the cast mates of the film, hooked up off-camera.

Julia didn’t name names about the hookups, but teased to News.com.au: ‘Of course there was — you get a bunch of young people together, you’re having a lot of fun … We were at a time in our lives when we were still open and uncensored, and un-self-conscious — it was fun.’

She said the fact that none of the stars were famous at the time, made it easier to keep the hookups on the down-low.

But she said that Joseph Gordon-Levitt had a profile at the time.

‘He had a didgeridoo he’d bring with him and he’d play every day … I’d never seen one before, it was such a novelty.’

After the film, Heath went on to appear in 19 films, including Candy, Brokeback Mountain and A Knight’s Tale. 

In January it will be 10 years since acting legend Heath died. 

Heath tragically died of an accidental prescription drug overdose in 2008 in New York, at the age of 28. 

In a recent documentary on Heath, his ex-girlfriend Naomi Watts shared what she felt when she heard of his passing.

‘That was a very sad day,’ Naomi said. 

They dated for two years, and Naomi told More magazine, that the pair shared a ‘beautiful relationship.’ 

‘He was really a very special soul and made a great impact on my life,’ Naomi told the publication.

‘And a great actor, but I know there was so much more to come. And it’s such a tragedy for his little daughter.’
