Hilarious festive cards from single people

Singletons fed up with family-orientated festivities have put their own dark and wickedly comical spin on traditional Christmas cards.

While some families send out cheery photographs of themselves to friends and relatives, people are creating their own hilarious holiday snapshots to celebrate spending the festive period alone.

One man poses with a dog and a toy baby in his card, while another sits with his pets beside his Christmas tree.

And Bridget McCartney, 29, has been sending out lonely Christmas cards for the past seven years, with her comical pictures always going viral.

A woman named Bridget has become an internet sensation after someone claiming to be her brother-in-law started sharing the series of hilarious Christmas cards that the ‘very single’ young woman has been sending out to her family every year.

Cards feature her posing as a passed-out drunk, snuggling up with a mannequin and even posing alongside a chicken in a tiny Santa hat.

The brother-in-law, who shared the images via a community post on Buzzfeed as wx.campbell, claimed that the cards started after Bridget, the last unmarried of five children, featured in a final Christmas card with her parents.

The first of the solo Christmas cards arrived in 2010.

‘Happy holidays!’ it read, above a photo of the young woman sitting by a fire, a martini in one hand and a bottle of wine – from which she is taking a swig – in the other, and the words ‘Love Bridget. Just Bridget’ across the bottom.

‘We all thought we’d never hear from Bridget at Christmas again,’ wrote Bridget’s brother-in-law along with the first card. ‘Then we got this.’

There would be even more booze worked into Bridget’s 2011 effort, where her mundane holiday greetings were accompanied by six photos of her sitting at a table surrounded with stuffed animals for an alcohol-laced tea party.
