A dog owner’s worst nightmare has become a reality after finding her beloved pooch dead in the pet’s walker’s car.

The four-year-old keeshond was found dead by its 46-year-old owner after she became concerned that her dog hadn’t been returned from its walk.

NSW Police said the dog was believed to be in the car for six-and-a-half hours before being found on Old South Head Road in Rose Bay.

The keeshond was found in Sydney’s affluent suburb Tuesday afternoon, however it is unknown where the dog walker was at the time.

Hundreds of devastated dog lovers took to social media to share their outrage towards the act of the dog walker.

‘That is absolutely horrible. That poor doggo!!,’ one wrote.

‘You had one job,’ another commented.

‘Name and shame the dog walker,’ someone suggested.

‘How could one person be so stupid and heartless. My heart goes out to the poor dog, the owner must be devastated. This person needs to be prosecuted and not allowed to car for, or have, pets ever again,’ one person wrote.

‘Disgusting! The dog walker should have known better and this poor owner trusted the dog walker to look after their furbaby. I hope the owner gets the justice they deserve and RIP beautiful doggy,’ a person shared.

As temperatures in Sydney reached about 26C yesterday, police remind people not to leave their animals in cars on hot days.

The RSPCA was notified and a NSW police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia they were ‘not going into details’ as the incident was ‘still under investigation’.
