As rain drenched the Whitsunday region in the wake of Cyclone Debbie locals without power were left to their own devices to wait out the damaging weather.
Now, nine months after the devastation, hospitals near the centre of the ruin have reported a baby boom.
‘The town was on complete shutdown, we couldn’t leave the house, watch TV, couldn’t charge our phones, nothing. So we had to entertain ourselves,’ his mum Danni Rowan told 9 News.

Proserpine Hospital were flooded with births just before Christmas, doctor Hannah Trimble said.
‘We did have a really busy period around the 21st and 22nd of December… we had five babies born in a 24-hour period,’ Dr Trimble said.
Ms Rowan was one of about a dozen mums of cyclone babies, and remembered midwives being run off their feet.

‘The midwives were flustering around and running around, yeah they couldn’t get me a bed, because there was too many women in there, all having babies at the same time,’ she said.
Ms Rowan said the reason behind Ari’s conception will definitely be shared at his 18th and 21st birthdays.
She added despite not being planned, her beautiful baby boy has been a blessing in disguise.
