Houston mom thanks cop who rescued her baby daughter

A Houston mom thanked the police officer who rescued her baby daughter after the two were separated while they were escaping rising floodwaters.

Dajauh Zhane Henix took to social media Monday to ask for help finding her young daughter Paige.

The mother and daughter had been in neck-deep water with strong currents and were evacuating when they were separated from each other Monday, according to officers who helped reunite the two.

Harris County police officers who rescued the baby girl also posted on social media to find her mom.

They posted an adorable picture of Paige wrapped in a blanket being held by the officer who saved her.

After being separated from her daughter, Henix posted a picture of Paige on Facebook asking for people’s help to find her.

She wrote: ‘If anybody is on the east side and at a shelter on Garrett road please keep a look out for my baby. We were separated while evacuating. Pleaseeeee. She have on a pink neon shift wrapped in a blue blanket!!!!!!’ (sic).

Similarly, the Facebook page for the Harris County Constable Precinct 2 posted an adorable picture of the rescued Paige.

‘We are trying to find the mother to this baby. The mother was last seen wearing a purple shirt on South Lake Houston parkway,’ the caption read. 

The caption was soon updated with the addition: ‘The baby has been reunited with her Mother!’

Henix showed her gratitude to the officers who saved her daughter in a comment on the officers' picture. 'Thank you sooooo much for keeping her with you!!! You are a life saver,' she wrote with a heart emoji, adding, 'greatly appreciated'

In the comments of the picture, officers added: ‘The families were in neck deep water with swift currents. Corporal Reed Clark put the baby on a jet ski and took the baby to a truck with a boat. The mother and child got separated.’

The picture of the officer holding Paige has since been shared more than 28,000 times and has had 4,000 reactions and more than 600 comments. 

Henix showed her gratitude to the officers in a comment on the picture after she had been reunited with her daughter.
