  • Last time he was caught Brown told the court a ban would be ‘inconvenient’

Stone Roses singer Ian Brown has been banned from driving after being caught speeding for the fourth time in two years.

The frontman was handed a six-month driving ban for ‘repeat offending’ and fine of £660 at Warrington Magistrates Court on January 2.

Brown, of Lymm, Cheshire, was was caught doing speeds in excess of 70mph in his Lexus on Chester Road in Hartford, Northwich, in February last year.

But it’s not the first time that the 54-year-old has found himself in hot water for driving over the speed limit.

He escaped a driving ban in September 2016 when he was caught doing 37mph in a 30mph zone after telling the judge it would be an ‘inconvenience’ to him.

This is because it would hinder him driving eight miles to pick up groceries for his father George, 81 and mother Jean, 79.

He also argued he had to drive to London to visit his son twice a week.

Despite already having nine points on his licence the judge let him off because it would cause ‘exceptional hardship’.

But he was told that if he were to come before the courts again for speeding he would almost certainly face a ban.

Just weeks earlier he Brown had been handed three points for speeding on November 5, 2015, and another three points on October 21, 2015.

His list of speeding offences continue as he was also given a three-month ban in November 2011 when he was found to be doing 93pmh in a 40mph zone on the M6 near Stafford.

Before this he had escaped a ban the previous month for doing 105mph on the same motorway and was handed six points on his licence instead.
