I’m A Celeb camp threatened by heavy storms

It was claimed earlier this week that an infestation of water leeches has hit camp – putting the famous jungle shower out of use.

And heavy storms are now threatening to hit the Australian outback, in yet another setback for the 2017 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

According to The Sun, show bosses have been forced to put an evacuation plan in place, which will transfer celebrities to ‘a temporary site on higher ground’ if conditions are too severe.

The paper reports that the celebrities may need to be moved from the famous Croc Creek site if the tropical downpour floods camp – potentially delaying filming by several days.

A source said: ‘It’s just a shame for viewers back home in the UK who like to see the celebs enjoying the warm weather.’

The storm is due to hit on Thursday, ahead of the show’s launch on Sunday – but insiders added bosses are hopeful it will clear up by the weekend.

They added: ‘There is also more chance of the women donning their bikinis for the the waterfall shower scenes when it’s warm, so they’re hoping it will brighten up as soon as possible.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives of I’m A Celebrity for comment.

The weather warnings are just another setback for the show – amid claims the jungle shower could be out of bounds completely, following an alleged water leech infestation.

The Daily Star reports that the creatures – which are a type of segmented worm that feeds on the blood of it’s prey – have infested the creek.

The famous jungle shower – which caused iconic scenes when the likes of Myleene, Ola Jordan, Vicky Pattison and Gemma Collins stripped off to use it – is said to be currently out of bounds.

The leeches are believed to have been drawn out by the unseasonably damp and cool weather, amid reports that the camp will be battered by 170mph tropical cyclones that will tear across Australia.

A representative for I’m A Celebrity… declined to comment when approached by MailOnline.

A number of celebrities have stripped to their bikinis in the shower over the years – including Vicky Pattison, Lisa Snowdon and Myleene Klass.

Myleene, 39, even recently revealed that taking a shower on the show changed her life, as she was inundated with job offers after leaving the Australian outback.

Speaking at a BUILD LDN event on Tuesday, the mother-of-two revealed: ‘When I went back into the jungle I had nothing to lose – I’d gone back into classical music, but it wasn’t giving me that stimulation.’

She revealed: ‘The offers following my white bikini moment, from modelling to more, were just staggering. I’d say to any girl go into the jungle – it worked for me!’

Famous hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, who have fronted the ITV show since 2002, landed in Brisbane earlier this week – confirming that 41-year-old Ant will be returning to screens with the series.

Ant’s appearance on I’m A Celeb had been heavily speculated, following his rehab stay over the summer, but appearing in high spirits, he seemed ready and raring to get started as he and Dec laughed on their way out of the airport terminal.

Ant has suffered a difficult 2017, after admitting in June he had been battling a two-year addiction to painkillers after a devastating knee injury and fertility issues.
