I’m A Celeb: Noel Edmonds is FIRST to leave the jungle after JUST nine days

Noel Edmonds was the first star to be evicted from the I’m A Celebrity Jungle on Friday after failing to gain immunity, making his exit after just nine days on the show.

The 69-year-old legendary presenter’s early exit meant he was paid a staggering £66,666 per day, due to his reported £600,000 salary which made him the show’s highest ever paid star.

After walking out of the camp and across the famous bridge, Noel told hosts Declan Donnelly and Holly Willoughby that he had conflicted emotions as he was excited to finally reunite with his wife Liz Davies.

Noel’s departure came after he had battled for survival alongside campmates Harry Redknapp, James McVey, Rita Simons, Emily Atack and Anne Hegerty, with Dec and Holly first revealing he was in the bottom two with EastEnders star Rita.

In a moment that seemed to shock both the camp and viewers at home, Noel was then announced as the first celebrity to leave the jungle, resulting in a somewhat stunned silence.

Saying his goodbyes Noel said to the remaining ten: ‘I don’t know whether I should be happy or relieved,’ before packing his bags and leaving the jungle for good.

It also means that Noel will not have to retire from showbusiness, as he had vowed before entering the jungle he would give it up if he was crowned series winner.

After watching his jungle highlights, Noel said that it looked like a different person in the clips, but admitted his jungle experience was in his ‘Noel’s 10 best bits’ throughout his life.

Upon being asked why he decided to take part in the show, the Deal Or No Deal front-man explained that it was 15-year-old son Harrison who convinced him to sign up

Noel added that Dec had also told him earlier in the year that he should head Down Under and said that it was the finest productions he had ever been involved with.

He said: ‘I am humbled and proud to have been apart of it’.

Noel entered the camp as emperor, dressed in roman robes but managed to rub some of the camp mates up the wrong way.

However he admitted that his entrance wasn’t made easy, but he made the right decision in enlisting Harry Redknapp as his adviser.

Fans of the show were quick to share their disdain that Noel was making his jungle exit so early, with many furiously proclaiming that it must be fixed.

One person wrote: ‘#ImACeleb fix? Noel last in, first out. Can’t believe he got fewest votes. Part of his terms?’

Another added: ‘Well that vote out was a fix if I ever saw one.’

A third also tweeted: ‘Well I’m not happy with that, #noeledmonds was pure entertainment, I’m not happy with this immunity, it’s a big fix.’

Noel allegedly earned the biggest pay packet after the estimated salaries for this year’s I’m A Celebrity were revealed.

According to The Sun, the 69-year-old earned a staggering £600,000 for his stint in the Australian jungle, the highest ever for a contestant- with his departure meaning he was earned an average of £66,000 for each day he was in the jungle.

This comes in stark contrast to some of the other stars’ salaries, with actress Emily Atack set to earn no more than £40,000, and Hollyoaks’ Malique Thompson-Dwyer falls to the bottom of the pack with a mere £15,000.

According to celebrity PR guru Ed Hopkins, several of this year’s camp-mates could easily earn six figures for their time in the jungle, ahead of the much-anticipated launch on Sunday.

The I’m A Celeb camp mates were woken on the first eviction day by a loud bird call which wakes them every day, and some of the celebrities had, had enough.

Emily Atack appeared to be struggling with their diet as she admitted she has had ‘one bean too many’, claiming that the birds and the beans had been ‘getting on her t***ies’.

The campmates were looking for ways to customise their T-shirts ahead of the head-to-head games, and Nick Knowles was one of the camp mates offering up his style advice to Fleur East.

Fleur asked Nick to take off the sleeves. ‘I’ve walked into the Nick Knowles fashion design studio,’ she said as he hacked at the t-shirt.

He revealed: ‘My mum was a seamstress so I used to watch her and know how to cut longs seams and things.’

Holly joked that every item she has worn this series has been from Nick’s label, D.I.Y Dress O’ Dress, before Dec quipped that he was wearing House of Anne Heggerty.

John Barrowman admitted that the atmosphere in camp was tense on Thursday as people felt unsettled due to the upcoming illumination.

The celebrities left camp to take part in Rancid Race, while the Roo’s pondered what the event might be, Harry added: ‘And the prize is to get these shorts off, oh my god, whoever invented these shorts.’

The Galahs said: ‘We’re bottom of the leader board at the moment but we’re determined to make our way to the top.’

Malique added: ‘I’ll show no mercy and take no prisoners today.’

Meanwhile, Rita said: ‘So if we lose we get rice and beans and if we win we get a nice meal, what do you reckon?’

Quick to the mark, Noel quipped back: ‘Meal or no meal.’

While the teaming were battling it out for immunity, Dec discovered that behind the scenes the crew had also been battling for a type of immunity.

They had been playing ‘immunity darts’ in order to avoid speaking to him, he told Holly he had been left feeling disappointed by the revelation.

But she hilariously told him that she was the one who had been left disappointed after coming in last place.

The first challenge was Pig Eye-Sotonic, also known as blended pigs eyes, with Rita, Emily, Fleur and John stepping up to the plate.

John managed to down the drink the quickest, meaning that it was a three way tie for second place as they went forward into the next round.

Next up was Raw Milk-Shell, the host’s informed the camp that they had to consume blended snails in order to earn points.

Malique managed to get it down the quickest after taking on Harry, Noel and John, however Harry questioned the win and said: ‘He got more on him than down his gob’.

Nick turned to him and joked: ‘H, you’re not exactly clean yourself.’

After a steward’s enquiry the decision stood and Malique was named the winner of the round, meaning the Roos were joint top with Galahs with four points.

Round three was interrupted by a huge burp from John, who appeared to be struggling to keep the gruesome concoctions down.

Dec announced that the next drink was Iced-Sea, fermented seaweed.

This time James drank it the fastest pushing his team into the lead and Rita claimed that it tasted like vomit, visibly struggling with the mixture.

The treats didn’t stop there, next the teams had to neck a pint of blended green ants, where Nick once again stepped up to take on the challenge.

Noel saw Nick was doing another race and said ‘Oh no, I’m against the Blackwall tunnel.’

The race started and Noel practically spilt his whole drink down his front and finished first.  ‘Oh no, I may have split a little bit.’ laughed Noel. ‘That’s not fair.’ said Emily.

Holly said lets go to a stewards enquiry and it was revealed Nick won the race because he had actually drunk it all.

Holly tried to change the leader board scores but couldn’t get a number out of the box, ‘I wouldn’t get a job on Countdown,’ she said.

Nick turned to Malique and Sair and said: ‘Winner takes all for this, I want immunity.’

Malique said ‘I’m gonna take this.’ Nick looked at him and said ‘Are you sure? It’s all or nothing, you sure you want that?’

Malique didn’t know what to think and turned to Nick and said, ‘You can’t do another’, Nick said ‘I can take another, we all have to do at least one and then you can drink as many as you like.’

Malique thought about it and said: ‘You can drink better than me.’

Dec said the next drink was Orange Juice with Electro-Shites which was blended croc anus. Nick turned to Malique and said ‘I’ll do it.’

Harry turned to Sair and said ‘Are you sharing them out or just going for the out and out win with your team?’ Sair told Harry that Nick was doing the race again, Harry said ‘That’s bo*****.’ Rita, Nick, Fleur and Emily stepped forward and Nick downed it in one.

Dec revealed that the Galahs were now the winners with 6 points and had won immunity from the public vote. The Galahs got six points, the Roos came second with 5 and there was a tie for 3rdplace between The Underdogs and Koalas.

Dec said ‘So we go to a tie breaker for see who will go 3rdand will be in last place.’

Rangers brought in the final drink which was Crap-Ple Juice, blended cockroaches, mealworms and crickets. John and Noel stepped forward and Noel again split most of his drink down his front. The adjudicator decided that John was the winner.

After going to the adjudicator they ruled that John was the winner, however Noel raged that he had been branded a serial cheat for his dodgy tactics.

The final leader board was Galahs, six, Roos, five, Koalas, four, and The Underdogs, three.

This meant that true to form those members of The Underdogs would definitely face the public vote later in the programme.

Harry reflected on the challenge admitting that he thinks everyone’s shown their true colours and they are all in it to win it.

He said: ‘All this cobblers about we don’t care who wins is a load of cobblers. Now let’s all be honest with each other, it’s now dog eats dog otherwise why would Nick go 3 times when he knows he can’t lose, when really it should have been 2, 2, 1.’

Nick looked at Harry and said ‘Cause I wanted a meal tonight.’ Harry said ‘Nah, I think you wanted immunity.’ Nick disagreed and said ‘I wanted a meal.’

Harry said: ‘This is the man who goes to the rugby club and drinks pints of beer for fun, how you going to beat him. We may have not bothered drinking that s***, let him win.’

Rita told the Bush Telegraph that the team had their first heated debate, adding that she thinks Harry wants people to admit that they want to win.

Talking in camp, Rita said ‘There is nothing wrong in wanting to win and that’s been made this shame, if you’re fighting, I couldn’t give a s***, if I wanted to win I’d genuinely say.’

Next up was the ‘play offs’ and the last change for Anne, John and Emily for the Koalas and Roos Harry, James and Fleur to save themselves and earn their dinner.

The teams arrived at a Velodrome where five static bicycles awaited them, where they learnt that they would be now competing by themselves for immunity.

Anne didn’t think twice: ‘We’re not going to be alone in there, there’s going to be critters and I don’t think I’m up for this, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

‘It’s only the top two people in this trial that were going to get anything out of this and I was never going to be one of those people.’

Harry got the first star. ‘They stink like rotten poo sick,’ said Emily who screamed throughout the event.

The next drop was cockroaches and Fleur and Emily screamed wildly while James managed to pick out two medals from his catch.

‘You are trying to pedal but you’ve got to look up and try and catch,’ said Harry. He then stopped pedalling for a moment when the beach worms were dropped and lost his entire medal collection. Gutted he said: ‘I had about seven medals while everyone else had two but I missed a beat on my pedals and lost the lot.’

James said: ‘This is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever done.’ Fleur agreed: ‘It’s really grim.’

They continued pedalling away and the next drop was crickets followed by bundles of biting green ants which drove them all to distraction. ‘They were stinging and running up my nose,’ said Harry. John agreed: ‘They were so painful I thought I’m done with this.’

Fleur also nearly gave up but powered through the last few minutes which paid off as the final drop was some golden confetti over her and John, the declared winners of the Velodrome event.

‘I was so relieved, I’ve got a family of bugs in my hair but I’ve got a meal tonight and I have at least one more day in the jungle here,’ she said.

Emily, who was a little tearful at the end, said: ‘It was hard but I didn’t give up. I’m not eating tonight and didn’t eat last night and I’m so hungry but I hope I don’t go, it will be a sad day no matter what as someone has to go but I hope it’s not me.

Returning to camp, the traumatised celebrities told of their event. Anne said: ‘I didn’t do it, I bottled it I would never have been one of the two winners at the end, seriously please vote to save everyone else tomorrow, please don’t worry about me.’

Anne hugged Emily as she told Rita of her ordeal: ‘I heard the klaxon at the end and I just lost it, I couldn’t hold it in.’ Fleur too was still shaken: ‘I was so shook up from that and Emily was very emotional but she stuck with it and didn’t give up.’

Back in camp, Noel volunteered to wash the big cooking pot but as he was walking down to the Creek, the lid slipped off and ended up in the freezing water.

He walked back to camp and confessed. ‘I’m walking down there with the pot and the lid fell off down the bank and straight into the pool. We need it, I’m going to have to go in and get it but I wanted ask was anyone else thinking of going in?’

They all laughed and John said: ‘We’re done kiddo!’ Nick said in the Bush Telegraph: ‘I think there’s a degree of comeuppance about that because Noel has been telling Emily about ten times a day how clumsy she is.’

The campmates who were up for the vote off gave a short speech to the rest of the group.

Rita: ‘I hope that whatever time you have left in here is amazing and I’m not saying anything too deep so I don’t get emotional but I love you all and that’s my barrier going up.’

Emily: ‘Coming here I realised I don’t need to be anything other than myself, I’ve been stripped bare here and not a single person has judged a bone in my body. You’ve made me the happiest I’ve been in such a long time, thank you.’

Anne: ‘I didn’t think I would do something that was going to make me feel so exposed and vulnerable and people wouldn’t judge me for it. You have all been incredibly kind when I needed kindness so I will miss you all terribly.’

James: ‘I think we all came in here thinking we knew who we were but I’ll be leaving as someone else as I’ve learned so much from all of you. It’s the most bizarre set up and none of us will ever do this again and what we do in here is so raw.’

Noel: ‘It wasn’t easy coming in late so thank you for making it easy as you can, earlier today I was reflecting on how fortunate I am in my life and thinking about true experiences and I wasn’t expecting this to get into the top ten of all time.’

Harry: ‘I’ve felt so at home here and loved every minute being around you all. There is not one person here I could say anything bad about, every one of you has been incredible to me and to each other. It’s been an unbelievable experience. I don’t understand what you are going on about but I love every one of you.’
