  • Woman says her father, brother and two uncles gang-raped her at a nursing home and forced her to miscarry

A 21-year-old woman has claimed she was gang-raped by her father, brother and uncles after eloping with her lover in India.

The woman ran away with her 32-year-old lover, named locally as Gayasuddin, twice in July and then again in October.

On the third occasion she was tracked down by her relatives who gang-raped her and forced her to miscarry, she claims.

After the first two elopements the family had filed an abduction complaint against Gayasuddin, the Times of India reports.

But he was freed after the woman intervened to say she left with him by choice.

After fleeing with Gayasuddin, already a father-of-three, in October she was tracked to a nursing home. It was there that she claims the attack took place.

Her allegations only came to light after her family filed another abduction complaint on November 2, when she approached the court.

Arrest warrants were issued against her relatives on November 18 for gang-rape and forced miscarriage.

The woman’s mother has subsequently claimed her husband and son are innocent, saying the allegations were made under Gayasuddin’s influence.
