A little girl has been found dead on a Gold Coast beach.

Emergency services were called to Staghorn Avenue, Surfers Paradise, about 12.30am on Monday after a member of the public found the infant unresponsive. 

Paramedics desperately tried to revive the little girl but she was pronounced dead at the scene.   

A little girl was found dead on a Gold Coast beach in the early hours of Monday, with police working to determine her cause of death 

An investigation is underway to determine her cause of death.  

‘A crime scene has been declared as detectives work to determine the cause of the girl’s death and to confirm the girl’s identity,’ Queensland Police said in a statement. 

‘There is no further information available at this time.’  

The little girl was found by the member of the public less than a kilometre from where thousands of school leavers were celebrating Schoolies parties.

Teenagers flock to the Gold Coast from mid-December to mark the end of their high school education.
