Israel Horovitz accused of sexual misconduct by nine women

Nine women have come forward to accuse the playwright Israel Horovitz of sexual misconduct.

They told their stories to The New York Times in a lengthy article that was published on Thursday.

The women, some of whom agreed to be named and some who didn’t, include former au pairs, assistants and actresses who all worked with the 78-year-old.

Many say he forcibly kissed them and grabbed their breasts.

Horovitz, who is married to his third wife, said he remembered the encounters ‘differently’ but apologized for any pain caused.

His Beastie Boy son Adam said he believed all of the women.

‘I believe the allegations against my father are true, and I stand behind the women that made them,’ he said.

In his own statement, Israel said while he has ‘a different memory of some of these events, I apologize with all my heart to any woman who has ever felt compromised by my actions, and to my family and friends who have put their trust in me.

‘To hear that I have caused pain is profoundly upsetting, as is the idea that I might have crossed a line with anyone who considered me a mentor.’
