Jamie Lee Curtis hugs home invasion survivor inspired by her Halloween role at Comic-Con

The magic of Comic-Con, linking stars and their passionate fans, was exemplified Friday in San Diego in a panel featuring Jamie Lee Curtis in support of her upcoming reboot of her horror classic, Halloween.

The actress, 58, who’s reprising her role of Laurie Strode in the upcoming motion picture, had an emotional exchange with a fan named Joseph Scott.

Scott revealed to her and the audience how pulling a page out of Strode’s playbook saved his life amid a home invasion in which his attacker cut the phone lines before illegally entering his house.

Heartfelt: Jamie Lee Curtis, 58, who’s reprising her role of Laurie Strode in the upcoming motion picture Halloween, had an emotional exchange with a fan named Joseph Scott (L)  at San Diego Comic-Con Friday

‘I was scared out of my mind and out of nowhere this thought came inside of me: “What would Jamie Lee Curtis do?”’ Scott told Curtis in Hall H symposium, Variety reported. ‘Our dog, Duchess, bit up these knitting needles and I grabbed them out of the trash and I saw the guy with the knife on one side of the house.

He continued: I ran out, ran down to the neighbors, started screaming like you did in the movie.

‘I’m here today because of the way that you portrayed Laurie Strode,’ the fan told Curtis, who also portrayed Strode in 1981’s Halloween II, 1998’s Halloween H20: 20 Years Later and the 2002 film Halloween.

‘I’m a victor today instead of a victim, just like those people that you were talking about. You’re the only reason I came to Comic-Con this year,’ said Scott, who was subsequently invited onstage and embraced Curtis with a hug.

In the panel, Curtis opened up on the changes her character reflects since the original film.

‘She’s the same girl 40 years later, she’s just been through a heck of a lot, like we all have,’ said Curtis, who’s remained active in the horror genre on the Fox series Scream Queens in the role of Dean Cathy Munsch.

She said if ‘you peel the onion of any person in this room, you will find trauma, you will find issues of sadness and loss and grief and great joy and happiness and drunkenness and misbehavior but it’s human interaction.’
