Joe Hockey liked a tweet calling Turnbull ‘a cranky pr*ck’

Yet another Australian liberal politician has claimed their Twitter account was hacked, after Australian ambassador to the US Joe Hockey ‘liked’ a tweet that described Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull as a ‘cranky pr*ck’.

The tweet by economist Stephen Koukoulas was posted during Turnbull’s appearance on Q&A on Monday night, reading: ‘Turnbull – wow. Showing what a cranky pr*ck everyone who has worked with him says he is’.

The incident comes after the accounts of Defence Industry Minister Christopher Pyne and Health Minister Greg Hunt both ‘liked’ pornographic tweets, with both blaming hackers and referring the incidents to the police.

There has been plenty of doubt about the veracity of the multiple ‘hacking claims’, with the Canberra Post writing, ‘It remains unclear why a hacker would use access to [Christopher Pyne’s] social media account exclusively to like a single pornographic post in the dead of night.

Twitter users were likewise unconvinced that it was an accident,  with replies to his early morning excuse ranging from ‘lol sure’ and ‘come on’, to ‘even my three-year-old knows when he’s been naughty. Be accountable for your actions’.

Liberal MP Greg Hunt has not yet made a comment about the incident in which his account ‘liked’ an explicit pornography tweet from user BBW C*M PUMPER 69.

However, a spokesman claimed to news.com.au that Mr Hunt’s account had been hacked and that the matter had been referred to the AFP.

On Tuesday morning, Hockey also came out on the defensive, writing: ‘Don’t get too excited. It looks like I have been hacked. AFP now investigating’, according to the Canberra Times.

The former Abbott treasurer has had a difficult relationship with Turnbull, accusing him of disloyalty during the 2015 liberal leadership spill that ousted then-Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

Hockey was promptly dumped from cabinet by Turnbull, only to be sent on a diplomatic posting in Washington DC three months later.

Mr Koukoulas wrote a number of other tweets slamming Turnbull’s ‘trainwreck’ performance on Q&A, comparing him to Donald Trump and blaming the ABC for their ‘soft questioning’.

The leader has been criticised for ‘bullying questioners and giving condescending answers’, as well as avoiding tough questions, ‘sighing loudly’ at one audience member and being a ‘smartarse’.

But the strongest criticism related to his handling of a question from Indigenous woman Teela Reid.

‘Why won’t you respect our proposal [allowing Aboriginal people to have a voice on legislation that would create a third chamber of Parliament] to a referendum and put it to the people like you put … marriage equality to the people?’ she asked.

Polls reveal up to 61 per cent of Australians are in support of this proposal.

‘As someone who has had some experience in how easy it is to change the Australian Constitution, it would have no prospect of success whatsoever,’ he informed her.

‘That is the view of every member of Parliament that I’ve discussed this with. People that don’t tell you the truth are misleading you, what I’m telling you is the truth.

‘I don’t think it’s a good idea. And if it were put up in a referendum it would go down in flames. That’s my view,’ he said, and then proceeded to interrupt her as she tried again to express her view.

His response was widely slammed for being ‘condescending’, ‘disrespectful’, ‘arrogant’ and ‘tone deaf’.

‘We are watching a the leader of our country, a white man, try to explain Aboriginal views to an Aboriginal person, and when she tries to correct him he talks over the top,’ tweeted one disappointed viewer.

‘What better allegory for how white Australia treats the first Australians?’

But Ms Teela did not back down, saying: ‘I think the Prime Minister continues to undermine our democracy. The PM can honestly not sit there and say it will fail … if that’s his position then we clearly need a leader with some courage.’

‘It’s been real disheartening to see his dismissal of this,’ she finished, to a hearty round of applause.
