Karl Stefanovic appears to plug Jasmine Yarbrough’s shoe brand on the Today show

Sylvia Jeffreys made an impassioned plea on the Today show on Wednesday, calling on the shoe industry to ‘end discrimination against women with large feet’.

The Channel Nine presenter, who has size 42-43 European feet, said she was fed-up with the lack of sizes for big feet.

In response to his colleague’s complaint, Karl Stefanovic recommend she try one of Mara & Mine’s designs as the cult shoe band caters to most sizes.

Karl Stefanovic appears to plug Jasmine Yarbrough’s shoe brand on the Today show after Sylvia Jeffreys complains about lack of sizes for big feet

‘They do a size 11 and 12,’ Karl said, failing to mention that Mara & Mine is part-owned by fiancée Jasmine Yarbrough.

Jasmine, a 34-year-old former catwalk model, co-founded the company in 2013 with her friend and business partner Tamara Ingham.

It remains to be seen what Channel Nine’s advertising department will make of Karl offering free publicity to Mara & Mine and how his endorsement will affect the Today show’s commercial relationship with other shoe retailers.

Sylvia had begun the segment by revealing her struggle to find shoes to fit her unusually large feet.

‘This is a big issue those of us with a big grip on the earth have been ignored by retailers for too long,’ she said.

‘We have suffered the indignity of shopping at CanoesForShoes.com for too long.

‘We are sick of that sinking feeling we get when we hear those six offensive words, “We don’t go to your size”.’

Last week she wrote an article for 9Honey explaining that the lack of available sizes in shoe shops has has been a source of frustration and disappointment for her over the years.

‘Enough is enough. It’s high time the shoe industry ended its discrimination against us. The rights of tall, long footed women have been ignored for too long,’ she said.

'We deserve equal opportunity too!' Last week she penned a story for Nine Honey and explained that the lack of available sizes in shoe shops has has been a source of frustration and disappointment for her over the years

‘The fashion industry has answered calls for plus sized clothes, but what about plus sized feet? We deserve equal opportunity too,’ she added.

Sylvia, who claims to have been fitted for men’s trainers at age 14, also complained about having her toes crushed by ill-fitting heels over the years, and the shame of having to shop at unfashionable shoe retailers.

‘So the next time you tell a tall woman you’d love to have her height, consider her pain. The grass isn’t always greener,’ she lamented.

Luckily for Sylvia, she will soon boast a shoe-designing sister-in-law thanks to the impending nuptials of Jasmine and Karl.

Indeed, Sylvia proudly donned a pair of $320 mule slippers designed by Jasmine’s label Mara and Mine during an event at the brand’s Sydney store in February.

The Today show reporter matched the fancy footwear with a sheer black dress and her signature blunt bob hairdo.

Mara and Mine also posted a snap of Sylvia wearing the shoes on their Instagram page to commemorate the occasion.

Jasmine opened the shoe store in the Sydney suburb of Paddington in early December last year, an event Sylvia attended.
