Katy Perry ‘is getting $25 MILLION’ to judge American idol

Katy Perry is getting an astounding $25 million to become the new American Idol anchor judge according to a new report.

Sources familiar with the negotiation between the 32-year-old pop star and ABC claim she will be receiving that substantial number according to a Monday morning report from TMZ.

Just a day prior was spotted enjoying a bike ride in New York while decked out in Adidas gear.

This all comes after it was announced at the network’s Upfronts by the Disney-owned channel that the Chained To The Rhythm hitmaker would be joining the show.

The gossip site’s insiders claim that ABC was ‘desperate’ to sign on a big name before the announcement that the former Fox show would be making a return.

One of TMZ’s sources said: ‘Katy had all the leverage. If ABC ended up announcing the show without a judge, they’d be screwed.’

If that number didn’t already seem staggering enough, the publication’s insiders claim that Jennifer Lopez was making $15 million and Ryan Seacrest was making the same number at his high point when it was on Fox.

UsWeekly added that ABC, the network that is launching the reboot, at first wanted only former contestants to be judges.

They looked at Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson.

But their wish list was hard to pin down as some of the members, like Clarkson, had other ideas.

She is now slated to work on The Voice.

ABC announced earlier this month that the singing competition will be returning to TV after airing its final episode on Fox in April 2016.

‘American Idol on ABC … that has a nice ring to it,’ Disney co-chairman Ben Sherwood said in a statement on May 9.

‘Idol is an entertainment icon, and now it will air where it belongs, in ABC’s lineup of addictive fan favorites alongside Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor. America, get ready for the return of a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever Idol.’

Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell were the first judges.

Later came Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, among others.

And toward the end it was Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.
