Katy Perry reveals her fondness for Sydney’s Luna Park and campaigns to save the amusement park

She wrapped up the Australian leg of her Witness World Tour last week, and is now en route to San Diego.

But on Monday, Katy Perry, 33, took some time out of her energetic schedule to speak about her love for Sydney’s iconic Luna Park and campaign to save the amusement park from closure.

‘One of my favorite moments on this leg was being able to FINALLY visit Luna Park Sydney’ the Firework singer wrote, alongside an image of her riding a dodgem car.

‘This face has kept me smiling for over a decade… please don’t take my smile away’: Katy Perry revealed her love for Sydney’s Luna Park on Monday in a passionate Instagram post and campaigned to save the amusement park from closure

‘I have looked out the window of my various hotel rooms for over 10 years dreaming about this place, the rainbow of glittering color in the middle of mundane grey business buildings… it looked like it was frozen in time, a simpler time,’ Katy gushed.

‘I love that it feels like you’re taking a time machine back to an authentic, incredibly preserved, corporate free, fun factory!’ she added.

Katy expressed her mounting fears that the Sydney amusement park may close following a court ruling.

The songstress then encouraged her followers to use the hashtag: ‘Save Luna Park’

The Bon Appétit hitmaker accompanied the impassioned message with a gallery of happy snaps of her enjoying the Sydney amusement park.

‘Luna Park is such a special place to me and my family,’ she tweeted.

‘We’ve shared some incredible memories there, it’s one of the places we most look forward to visiting when on tour. I hope Luna Park is around forever and ever and ever!!!’ she added.

Last month The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the future of Sydney’s Luna Park is in jeopardy after a court ruled the amusement park needed to make a development approval in order to start constructing a new carousel ride.

Luna Park’s owners were angered by the Land and Environment Court’s decision, fearing authorities could delay or even refuse the new ride named ‘Flying Carousel’ and any future rides.

‘We are deeply disappointed by this decision, which places a big question mark over the long-term viability of one of Sydney’s best-known and most-loved destinations,’ Luna Park CEO Peter Hearne told the Sydney Morning Herald.

‘We have always played by the rules only to find that, now, those rules are being interpreted in a way that will place the long-term future of the park in doubt.’
