L.A. anchor fired ‘over allegations of sexual harassment’

A long-serving L.A. based news anchor has been ousted amid reported allegations of sexual harassment.

Steve Edwards, 69, was fired from Good Day L.A. on Fox 11 affiliate KTTV on Monday.

The married news anchor has been a regular on West Coasts hows since the 1970s.

He was the only man on the anchoring team and regularly shared photographs of his female colleagues on social media along with tributes to their beauty.

His colleagues, who include Maria Quiban and Julie Chang have not commented on his departure.

According to sources cited by FTV Live, Edwards’ firing came as the result of reports of sexual harassment made by co-workers.

Fox 11 has not revealed the reason for his departure, saying only that he has indeed left the station.

‘We can confirm that Steve Edwards is no longer employed by KTTV,’ a spokesman told DailyMail.com.

Other sources say Edwards was in his final contract with the show and that his departure was natural.

The show recently added Megan Colarossi to its roster.  Edwards, a father-of-two, has commented on the claims.

His departure coincides with those of hundreds across the country in the film and television industry which have been prompted by allegations of sexual misconduct.

The avalanche of resignations and terminations is part of a wider, multi-industry trend being hailed as the country’s ‘Me Too movement’.

It began with the accusations against Harvey Weinstein in October.

The disgraced movie mogul is now facing criminal investigation over the claims of dozens of women.

Edwards has been a regular fixture on television since the 1970s.

He started his career in Houston, Texas, on a radio show.

The veteran anchor has not commented on his departure from the show.
