‘Now, I’m so sorry that we couldn’t bring home another one to you. But I passed onto Steven Marshall my congratulations from our party, on his personal achievement, and also the achievement of his candidates, in winning their seats, and forming a government for the state of South Australia.’

Labor held the state for 16 years.

Steven Marshall told an ABC reporter: ‘We have been confident for a while.
