Whale of a time! Incredible moment two Beluga whales greet a paddleboarder and playfully swim underneath him

  • He later went underwater and the whales peacefully floated by as he filmed 
  • Drover, a wildlife photographer, said the experience was one of the best he’s had

One wildlife photographer couldn’t believe his luck when he went out paddleboarding in Canada and was greeted by two Beluga whales. 

Levon Drover was paddling off the coast of Ingonish, Nova Scotia on July 5 when he saw the whales right underneath him. 

The playful whales were happily swimming with each other right near the surface of the water.

‘Hi guys!’ Drover excitedly shouts to the whales as he holds up his GoPro camera to capture the incredible sight. ‘What are you guys up to?’ 

‘Woo, woo!’ he then exclaims, clearly excited by the rare experience. 

The whales happily continue to blow bubbles around the water as they play, and soon Drover decides to join them. 

Drover later took his GoPro and went underwater so he could join the whales for a swim

They peacefully float by him through the water together and let Drover get close, unfazed by the camera

Drover later said swimming with the Beluga whales was one of the ‘most incredible experiences he has ever had’. 

He said that he could feel the whales’ intelligence just by looking them in the eye.
