Lorde tries to out-perform her sister in childhood video

She’s the quirky songstress who knows exactly how to capture the attention of her fans. 

And it seems Lorde, real name Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, has been vying for the limelight since childhood, with a new throwback home video showing the singer trying to out-perform her younger siblings.

The two-part video, which appeared on the Instagram page of Lorde’s mother Sonja Yelich this Monday, shows a curly-haired Lorde and younger sister Indy singing along to B.o.B’s hit song Nothin’ on You.

The sisters became competitive as the song wore on, with Lorde making sure to steal audience’s attention by dancing wildly in the background.  

Singing into pepper grinder, Indy became flustered by her sister’s performance and started swatting her away from the camera with her spare hand. 

Sonja dedicated the post to Indy, who celebrated her 19th birthday this week, while thanking daughter Jerry for keeping the video over the years.

In a subsequent post, Lorde’s brother Angelo and sister Jerry got in on the act, singing and dancing wildly in an attempt to steal the spotlight from Indy. 

‘Everyone raining on yr parade @indyyelich1 but sooooo cute!’ wrote Sonja in the caption.

It comes after Lorde sent fans into meltdown by confirming that she will perform at the upcoming 2017 ARIA awards in Sydney.

The talented songwriter, who is also nominated for international artist of the year, will join One Direction star Harry Styles who will also be lending his musical talents to proceedings. 

In a statement on Monday, ARIA CEO Dan Rosen was positive about the acquisition of the Pure Heroine singer for the Australian music industry’s night of nights.

‘Lorde is an amazingly talented artist and one of the biggest acts in the world right now,’he said.

He continued: ‘We are so excited to welcome her back to the ARIA stage in what is sure to be a magic moment from this incredible performer.’
