Love Island Australia producer reveals details about show

Channel Nine officially announced they would be producing the Australian version of the hit reality show at their Up Front event.

And on Thursday, the show’s producer Alex Mavroidakis has shared details about the reality show.

Speaking to Nova 96.9’s Fitzy And Wippa show, he explained they are looking for sexy singles, genuinely looking for love to travel to Spain for the show.

Looking for love, a good suntan, a free trip to Spain? Alex Mavroidakis, producer of the Australian version of Love Island, has shared details about the show after opening the casting call for contestants was opened (pictured Love Island UK third runners up Chris and Olivia)

‘It’s people with hot bodies, doing hot stuff in a hot place. It’s huge in the UK and Germany, absolutely massive,’ he continued.

Producer Alex also denied that they were looking for people with an established TV profile such as former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants.

‘(It’s a) free trip to Spain, you’re gonna find love, you’re gonna get a good sun tan, you’re gonna become a superstar.

‘I mean why on earth would you not do it?’

‘What we forget is that hot people need love too. You know the poor, poor people with their high cheekbones and their bangin’ bodies.

‘It’s time they get a shot at love and we give that to them,’ he sarcastically added.

Love Island Australia’s official Twitter account even got in on the action, spruiking the casting call link and tweeting: ‘Single & up for the hottest summer ever?’

Alex also revealed the show will have a high turn around, similar to Big Brother and I’m A Celebrity giving audience the power to vote off anyone they don’t like.

'Do you currently blog and/or vlog?' The casting application for Love Island Australia seems more interested in social media fame than applicants' personalities

This comes after the application page for the reality show was revealed to be brief, with a bigger focus on potential contestants’ social media pull rather than their psychological profile.

Questions including whether they blog or vlog, the numbers of followers, a handful of relationship related questions and if potential contestants have ever found love with ‘the one.’

After requesting a few photos of applicants, the process ends.
