Love triangle between married couple, teen ends with police shooting the 18-year-old

The love triangle between a married couple and the wife’s teenage boyfriend turned deadly when the 18-year-old was shot dead by police following a car chase.

Allen Fanning was killed by Colorado police as a domestic dispute between Shawn Tyree Glover, 43, and his wife Christina Padilla, 43, spiraled out of control. 

Glover is facing criminal mischief and domestic violence charges in the incident.    

Problems first began when Glover spotted Padilla’s car outside WoodSpring Suites in Centennial on November 15.

Glover told police that he knew Padilla was with her boyfriend, so he slashed one of her car’s tires.

He later saw Padilla and Fanning shopping to replace the destroyed tire at a local store called Big O Tires.

Authorities said Glover and Fanning then began to argue at the store. 

Glover claims Fanning went to his car to retrieve a gun and pointed it at him. He then got back into the car and fled the scene as police arrived.

Three officers pursued Fanning and surrounded him at an intersection, boxing in his vehicle. 

They ordered the teen to get out of his car but Fanning refused, according to the Denver Post. 

Officers then attempted to break the car’s window in an attempt to remove Fanning from the vehicle.

They ordered the teen to get out of his car but Fanning refused. Fanning, who was alone in the car, then allegedly reached for his gun and the officers fired multiple shots at him

Deputies removed the teen from the vehicle and started CPR. Fanning was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Authorities said a loaded gun was recovered from Fanning’s car. One officer sustained minor injuries during the incident. 

Three deputies were placed on paid administrative leave following the fatal shooting.   

The 18th Judicial District Critical Response Team is investigating.
