MAFS’ Gabrielle Bartlett shares her health struggles after revealing weight loss

Married At First Sight’s Gabrielle Bartlett has revealed health struggles caused her recent weight loss.

The 44-year-old single mum looked noticeably slimmer in a photo shared to Instagram on Sunday, alongside her former co-star Ryan Gallagher.

When asked by a follower ‘how’ she managed to lose weight, the blonde beauty replied ‘I’ve been very sick.’

The fan commented: ‘You have loved [sic] so much weight ? How? Tell me your secret.’

Gabrielle responded: ‘Aww thank you lovely – but I’ve been very sick but getting better now thank god!’

The former reality star did not elaborate on her health struggles but confirmed she is on the mend.

The photo with Ryan was taken during a night out with the aspiring comedian and former co-star Sean Donnelly in Adelaide last week. 

Last month, the MAFS fan-favourite shared a hospital snap and told fans she spent four months in four different hospitals due to health struggles.   

‘4 months, 4 hospitals. – And I’m all better,’ she captioned.

‘Never felt more grateful for my family and friends around me. The best things in life really are free aren’t they.

She added: ‘To those angelic nurses at Woolongong, Royal North Shore, North Shore Private and Mona Vale Hospital – your care, attn to detail and natural gentleness did not go unnoticed, and I’m just in awe of you.’

Earlier this year, Gabrielle spoke about her weight loss, which one expert previously speculated could be as much as 18kg.

‘I slimmed down a lot during and after the experiment was filming,’ she told NW magazine in March.

‘With my emotional journey on the show, along with health issues toward the end of filming that I needed treatment for, my weight just dropped.

She added: ‘However, I’m feeling a lot better now and letting my body do what it needs to stay strong and healthy – it is what it is known for now!’

Melbourne-based dietitian Melania McGrice estimated Gabrielle’s weight loss to be 18 kg, saying the soft-spoken star may have dropped from around 77kg to 59kg.

Gabrielle announced her split from MAFS ‘husband’ Nasser Sultan in March.
