MAFS groom responds to being labeled ‘misogynist’ by fans

This Married At First Sight groom has been slammed on social media as a ‘misogynist’ after expressing his desire to be an ‘alpha’ with a wife who will ‘obey him’.

But ahead of the controversial match-making series’ return, contestant Dean has broken his silence on the backlash his comments have received.

Speaking to TheFIX, he defended his position: ‘I don’t see why men aren’t allowed to take a lead role.’

‘It seems like that has become you know, a taboo thing, for men to actually have a leading role in a relationship,’ the goatee-wearing redhead said.

The video teaser saw the soon-to-be reality star saying it was hard to describe his ideal woman ‘without being sexist’, adding he thought females should return to the ‘traditional role’ which he believed ‘Australia’s lost that’.

‘I like a girl that is a girl and is girly and knows that I’m the man and that i’m in charge. Also want someone that listens to me… and I want to be the alpha male and she needs to respect me as the man,’ he insisted.

A message also flashes up on screen revealing three things he was looking for in his experimental partner on the show: ‘wants to be loved, honoured and OBEYED.’

He offered some harsh advice to Dean, ‘find a rock and crawl under it buddy’, before adding ‘you’re probably not a bad bloke… but… You’re gonna slammed.’

More than 2500 angered fans have already digitally signed a petition on Megaphone.org.au, which was launched in December, to remove Dean from the reality series.
