Maid of honour issues lengthy rant about best friend – and why she was UNINVITED from the wedding

A maid of honour has taken to Facebook to share the horrendous months she spent planning the wedding of a woman she calls ‘a true bridezilla’.

Marissa* said the ordeal began with the soon-to-be bride, Charlotte*, demanding her boyfriend propose to her by July 31 2018.

‘She announces during this girls’ night that she is expecting a ring by July or she will take an oath of silence against future hubby,’ Marissa said.

‘Seeing that she is clearly acting psychotic, my friend and I try to talk her off a cliff by trying to convince her to compromise and show a little patience.’

Marissa, who had spoken to the boyfriend in question, said they told her that something was in the works but she should ‘try to be understanding’.

‘I later find out that she cried the whole ride home, started a fight with future hubby about being an a**hole for not proposing, and cried herself to sleep that night,’ Marissa said.

‘She also claimed that we bullied her into thinking he was not going to propose- ever. It never happened like that. Sure as sh*t, a week before the deadline, the proposal happens.’

Unfortunately this is only where the drama began as Marissa was soon asked to be maid of honour.

Although Marissa was reluctant to accept the offer because they were drifting apart and she said she knew she was going to be dealing with a ‘control freak’, she did accept, and said she would do anything she could to make it the best day possible.

‘A month or two later, I notify her that I am planning on competing in a fitness show PRIOR to her wedding,’ she wrote.

‘This means the whole competition would be over before her wedding. She cries, tells me I am being selfish, and then proceeds to say I won’t be any fun at the bachelorette.

‘Shame on me for not stopping my entire life to accommodate her wedding YEAR.’

When it came to the engagement party, Charlotte planned a lavish Gatsby-themed event, but threw a tantrum when she had to scale down due to their budget.

Marissa found herself tending the bar, completely by choice, as they didn’t hire any staff to help with the function and were expecting the Father of the Groom to work it the entire night.

She was then later told she was being anti-social for helping out.

When it came to dress shopping for the bridesmaids Marissa was forced to pay $115 for their lunch before Charlotte picked out dresses that all cost over $200.

To make things even worse, the maid of honour found out only days before the shopping venture that her boyfriend of two years had been cheating on her for a year and a half.

‘I was shattered but did not want to let her down so I decided to suck it up and promised myself that I would not talk about it,’ Marissa said.

‘That promise went out the window as soon as she asked me how my vacation went. I instantly burst into tears.’

Charlotte then pretended to know about the affair, which Marissa said was an attempt to have the spotlight back on her.

‘The wedding shower cost me about $800 as she asked for all bridesmaids to pitch in $250 for the shower,’ she said.

Finally, two days before Charlotte’s wedding shower, Marissa went to her cousin’s fiancé’s bachelorette party.

She said when she did go to help set up for the shower the day after, she was greeted by a seething mother of the bride asking her why she didn’t go shopping with the bridezilla the night before.

Marissa then spent four hours at her house prepping and supplied coffee and breakfast at 8am the next day for a 10 hour long bridal shower.

Following this, the maid of honour was ignored for a week and a half as Charlotte ignored all calls, texts and Facebook messages.

When she did finally get a hold of her the bride rattled out a list of ways that Marissa had disappointed her.

‘She said it was ridiculous that I bullied her into thinking she would never be proposed to, I didn’t comment on her engagement post saying she would be the “most beautiful bride ever” and I didn’t like enough of her pre-wedding posts,’ Marissa said.

‘I didn’t spend enough time or effort on her wedding (refer back to all money spent)  and I had time to go on vacation and attend “some girl’s” bachelorette (my cousin’s fiancé) but not food shopping with her.

‘I was selfish for wanting to compete in a fitness show during her “wedding time”, and I was rude and disrespectful to her mother (who threatened me for not wanting to spend $140 on 12 pastries).’

Charlotte ended the call saying if Marissa really cared about her she would have showed up at her house when she was being ignored and told her we should no longer be friends.

‘A week later I get a letter in the mail reiterating we are no longer friends and that I am not welcome at the wedding,’ she said.

‘Coincidentally, my friend and roommate that was also in the wedding gets the same style letter.’
