Father accidentally shoots and kills his six-year-old daughter while cleaning handgun he thought was unloaded

A six-year-old girl was killed after she was accidentally shot in the head by her father while he was cleaning out his gun.
Makayla Bowling was shot around 10.30pm on Friday night inside her home in Salem, Indiana.
Her father, whose name has not been released, thought the handgun he was cleaning was unloaded.
But the gun discharged and the bullet struck Makayla in the head, authorities said.
Makayla was taken to the Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky by air ambulance.
She was pronounced dead shortly after.
The Indiana State Police told DailyMail.com that they have completed their investigation and do not believe foul play was involved.
They have turned over all information to the prosecutor’s office to determine if charges will be filed.
