A man has been charged with the rape and murder of a woman whose body was found dumped on a soccer pitch.
Detectives charged a 19-year-old man from Broadmeadows over the death of the woman in her 20s who was found in a park in Carlton North, inner Melbourne.
The man, who was arrested on Wednesday and remanded in custody after being charged, will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning.

Homicide detectives locked down the area after the body was found at 3am on Wednesday morning, with police turning morning joggers away from the park.
Victoria Police said the body was discovered by a passerby, and paramedics were unable to revive the woman.
The body was found on a soccer pitch located between Royal Parade and Princes Park Drive.
