Man, 35, is charged with murder after father-of-two, 23, was set on fire

A man has been charged with murder after a 23-year-old father-of-two was set on fire and dumped at the side of a road.

Wade Still died shortly after a taxi driver found him covered in flames on Oakdale Road at Whitebridge, south of Newcastle, at 1am on Monday.

A 35-year-old man was charged with murder on Tuesday and will face court on Wednesday.

NSW Police claimed the two men knew each other.

Taxi driver James Madden was driving along  a road in Lake Macquarie when he found Wade Still, 23, (pictured) severely burned

The father was found blistered and had little clothing left on him.

Mr Madden had left home at 11.30pm to buy petrol with his friends.

He told police that he knew who had hurt him before he died while being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The first firefighter that arrived to the horrific scene said seeing Mr Still all burnt up shook him.

The firefighter who does not wish to be named told the Herald Sun that he will always remember the incident.

‘…this person was alive, talking, screaming, I’ll never forget this’, the firefighter said.

‘I’d never seen anything like it and I think we were all almost in a state of shock’.
