Man, 39, accused of strangling, stabbing and beating a woman he met online

An Illinois man has been arrested for allegedly strangling, stabbing and beating a woman he met online.

Michael Pullums, 39, of Country Club Hills, attacked the woman, who has not been named, late on Saturday night.

The couple met online and had been dating for some time when he came over to her home in Clinton, Missouri, over the weekend.

Police say they got into an argument and Pullums flew into a violent rage.

‘The man stabbed her several times with a knife and a pair of scissors and then (he) strangled her,’ police said Monday in a news release.

Cops said that the victim ‘played dead’ in a desperate ploy to try and get the attack to end.

‘When she saw an opportunity, attempted to run outside to escape her attacker,’ police added in their statement.

Sadly, Pullums spotted her and caught up with her before beating her with a metal chair. The assault only stopped when he heard sirens form a passing ambulance.

Pullums then loaded the woman into his car and dropped her at the local hospital, telling staff that they had been robbed, before he drove away in her car.

Emergency room staff at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital called 911 and Warren County Missouri Deputies caught up with him a few hours later, still covered in the victim’s blood.

Pullums was served a warrant for domestic assault in the first degree with serious physical injury. Bond was set at $100,000.
