Man calls in sick to work in hilarious text exchange

A man was forced to call in sick to work after his boss’ own mother injured him so badly he wound up in the hospital.

An Imgur user shared screenshots of the hilarious text exchange between the employee and his boss, who are both believed to be from the US, yesterday.

The conversation shows how an employee named Keith texted his boss, Ben, to say he wouldn’t be able to work his upcoming shift because he was currently in the hospital.

Uh oh: A man was forced to call in sick to work after his boss’ own mother injured him so badly he wound up in the hospital

When Ben asked what happened, Keith responded ‘your mom’, prompting Ben to ask him to be serious.

‘That’s not the time for jokes,’ Ben responded. ‘What happened?’

But it turned out that Keith’s answer was, in fact, accurate, and that Ben’s mother had indeed caused his injury.

Keith thus reiterated his original reply and provided his boss with a bit more context as to what unfolded.

‘I was just shopping some groceries and saw your mom struggling with some stuff she bought,’ Keith wrote. ‘I helped her loading. When I was finished, she closed the trunk and hit my head really bad.’

Ouch! Ben, the boss, asked his employee Keith how badly his mother had hurt him, to which Keith responded with a photo showing he had to get several stitches to close a ghastly cut

Ben immediately believed his employee and responded with a laughing emoji before pointing out the anecdote sounded exactly like something his mother would do.

‘How bad did she hit you?’ Ben asked.

Knowing that images speak louder than words, Keith responded with a simple photo of his injured skull, showing he had to get several stitches to close a ghastly cut on his scalp.

The unexpected exchange has now been viewed more than 221,904 times on Imgur, and other users have been having the time of their life coming up with witty puns summarizing the mishap.

Someone else recounted how they once got injured in a similar way, writing: ‘I bagged groceries as a teenager. One lady slammed my finger in her door then got in and put it in reverse. Had to yank my finger out.’

Another person explained that their sister had accidentally shut the trunk on her grandmother’s head once, and shared a handy tip to prevent other incidents: yelling ‘clear’ every time someone yanks the door down.
