Man City star Walker sets Valentine’s Day task for fans

Kyle Walker took it upon himself on Valentine’s Day to help football fans into the dog house, as if they needed the assistance.

The Manchester City full back set a challenge for his 972,000 Twitter followers this year, that being to invite their partners to a last-minute trip to Paris.

As appealing as it sounds, don’t get your hopes up. The England defender challenged his followers to invite their loved ones to ‘see Paris’, but in actual fact they would be going nowhere near the romance hot spot.

Kyle Walker set his Twitter followers a very brave Valentine’s Day challenge

Unfortunately for the unlucky recipients of this message, it was not a trip to Paris, but a trip to the pub to watch the eagerly-anticipated Champions League showdown between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

‘Ok guys, challenge. All text your partner “It’s a last minute call but I just heard we can celebrate Valentines and see Paris tonight. You in?”,’ he wrote on Twitter.

‘Then send her the Real Madrid-PSG line up. Screenshot your chat with #KyleMadeMeDoIt, best reply wins a signed shirt!’

While many who took part in this challenge may have genuinely wanted to win a signed City shirt, it’s safe to say most just wanted a laugh.

And so, the replies came pouring in.

One fan’s girlfriend was so ecstatic by her man’s spontaneous and romantic gesture, she had rushed home – after asking her mum to pack her a bag – to wait for her lift.

Sadly for her, that lift would never come, as she was brought back down to earth as he broke the news to her.

‘You f****** t**,’ she replied. Clearly the joke wasn’t appreciated.

While that response certainly would have left the poor guy responsible in a heap of trouble, the next really took the biscuit.

‘You can get f***** Joe. It’s over I am sick of you putting football before me,’ she replied. And as she went on to rant about how she was selling his season ticket and would not be accompanying him to Monday night’s Wigan game, a bitter truth was revealed.

Some of the recipients of the prank struggled to see the funny side of the challenge

‘The table WAS booked for half 7 tonight, but I’m going with Andy instead. Thanks for the deposit Joe, but never speak to me again.’

While Joe will be wondering how his light-hearted joke went down so poorly, the real question remains, who is Andy, Joe?

Unlike most of the responses sent back the Walker, some saw the lighter side of the joke.

The response read: ‘knew you’d bl**** Bale on me. That joke was Diarra-hoea!’ It’s safe to say he, unlike so many brave men before him, got away with that one.
