A man has died in a ferocious fire which destroyed a shed at a home on the NSW Central Coast.

Fire crews rushed to the property in Morisset at about 2am on Monday to find the shed at the rear of the property well alight. 

The blaze was soon extinguished before the man’s body was found inside the structure.

The remains are believed to be that of the resident and local detectives have established a crime scene. 

‘The fire was quickly extinguished and a check of the premises revealed the body of a man, believed to be the occupant,’ a police spokesperson said. 

‘A crime scene has been established while investigations into the cause of the blaze continue by detectives from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command.’
