Man in hospital viciously attacked by his own dog Carlisle

A man has been rushed to hospital with wounds to his arms and chest after being viciously attacked by his own dog.

The man was mauled in Carlisle on Wednesday morning before he was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.

The three-year-old Staffordshire-mastiff cross has now been seized, 7 News reported.

It is understood the man was running after the animal after it got out of his property and ran onto the street. 

Workers nearby who witnessed the attack helped the injured man and ran to give him first aid. 

A Perth police spokesperson confirmed emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital. 

She said the matter will now be handled by the local rangers who have collected the dog and are investigating.
