Man is arrested on suspicion of murder after woman dies of serious injuries near west London pub

A woman who was stabbed to death outside a restaurant in west London has been named locally as Lilia Djairine.

A murder investigation has been launched and one man has been arrested after the shocking attack in Hanwell, west London this afternoon.  

The victim has been identified by witnesses as Lilia Djairine, a restaurant manager and mother-of-one.

A baby’s pushchair was abandoned at the scene and a man was seen crying nearby, witnesses said. 

Specialist officers have cordoned off the area to the public while one man has been detained in custody.   

A resident told Get West London: ‘This latest incident will maybe confirm to many now that matters are spiralling out of control.’ 

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene near The Viaduct pub at 12.50pm, and a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said the death was ‘unexplained’.

She said: ‘Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 12:11hrs on Thursday, 19 July to reports of a seriously injured woman in Uxbridge Road, W7. Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended. 

‘Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the woman, believed to be aged in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:50hrs. 

‘Her next-of-kin has been informed. A post-mortem and formal identification will take place in due course. The death is being treated as unexplained at this early stage.

‘The Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command has been informed as is routine. A man (no further details) was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He has been taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody. A crime scene is in place. Enquiries continue.’

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 12:06pm today to Hanwell, to reports of an incident.

‘We sent an incident response officer, two single responders in cars and an ambulance crew. We also dispatched our hazardous area response team (HART) and London’s Air Ambulance by helicopter.

‘Sadly, despite our extensive efforts, a person died at the scene.’
