A man having an argument with his girlfriend has escaped by jumping onto the railway tracks in Taipei, a stomach churning video can reveal.

Footage shows an elderly man, named Chen, in a white t-shirt standing in the middle of the Jingmei Station metro station in the Taiwanese capital.

He appears to be calm, looking from side to side when a group of people rush to the track’s edge and urge him to come up.

The man agrees to do so and begins climbing out when, shockingly, a woman appears and attempts to kick him back down.

The woman is thought to have been his girlfriend, after a dozen commuters witnessed the pair breaking into a dramatic argument while on their way home from work.

The woman, who has not been identified but is believed to be in her fifties, said: ‘I dare you to stay there!’

Chen is seen being kicked several times by his girlfriend, causing the metro station employees to rush to the scene.

The man, who is in his seventies, eventually makes it out of the tracks and collapses onto the ground as his girlfriend begins fighting with those trying to help.
