Man shockingly claims to have fed his own amputated leg to friends in TACOS

A man who had his foot amputated after a motorcycle accident in 2016 saved it so that he could make some tacos for ’10 of his most open-minded friends’.

Reddit user IncrediblyShinyShart posted that in June 2016 he was hit by a car while riding his bike down a mountainous road, shattering his foot so badly that it had to be amputated.

Three weeks later on July 10, 2016, he invited his friends over to enjoy a meal of human shin fajita tacos seasoned with ‘lime, onions and peppers’, followed by  fresh apple strudel, quiche puff pastries and fruit tarts complimented with gin lemonade punches and mimosas.

‘I taste like buffalo, but chewier,’ IncrediblyShinyShart shared on Reddit. ‘Super beefy and little fat.’

The idea for the culinary experiment came out about when doctors started to amputate his foot and he asked: Can I keep it?

‘Originally I wanted to have it taxidermied or freeze-dried,’ he shared with Vice. ‘How cool would it be to have my freeze-dried or taxidermied foot standing around the house as a lamp or a doorstop or something?’

IncrediblyShinyShart added that because hospitals have policies in store where they release body parts for religious purposes, they had paperwork handy for him to sign and get a hold of the foot.

‘I went inside and the hospital gave me my foot in a red plastic biowaste bag,’ he said about the body part that was housed in a fridge at the hospital. ‘I brought it to the car and immediately put it in a cooler. It was pretty bizarre.’

When the foot first made it to IncrediblyShinyShart’s home, he and four friends couldn’t help but play around with it.

He said. ‘There was no emotional connection. I could think, “Yep, that’s my foot right there,” but there wasn’t some deep part of me that felt weirded out by it. In fact, the weirdest part was that it wasn’t weird.’

To prepare the foot meat, IncrediblyShinyShart cut a chunk off the tibialis anterior (near the shin) and put it in the freezer.

IncrediblyShinyShart invited a taco chef and his girlfriend, his own ex-girlfriend, a friend from college, two longtime friends and their daughter and two other friends to try out his foot and prepare the meat

Next, IncrediblyShinyShart invited 11 of his closest friends to partake in his culinary exercise and all but one agreed to show.

‘I said something like, “Remember how we always talked about how, if we ever had the chance to ethically eat human meat, would you do it? Well, I’m calling you on that. We doing this or what?” Ten said yes,’ he added.

IncrediblyShinyShart shared that the chef he had prepare the tacos marinated the two to three ounces of meat overnight and then served it with corn tortillas with tomatillo sauce. The entire recipe for the tacos

The ten consisted of the taco chef and his girlfriend, IncrediblyShinyShart’s ex-girlfriend, a friend from college, two longtime friends and their daughter and two other friends. IncrediblyShinyShart made 10.

At the moment of truth when the friends ate their pal, the user shared that one of them immediately ‘spit me into a napkin.’

He added: ‘We were cracking jokes the whole time. I said at one point, “Well, today was the day I was inside 10 of my friends at once.” I got a phone call the next day from a friend saying, “Hey, just so you know, I pooped you out. Sorry.”’

IncrediblyShinyShart himself admired the beefy taste of his own foot.

‘I would give it a solid 6.5, but keep in mind that I have had a lot of good food,’ he shared on Reddit.

‘So it’s way better that a hot dog or regular burger. Maybe equal with regular bacon, which is pretty decent. But no where near as good as butter seared sea scallops or a rare sous vide tenderloin seared in grape seed oil in a cast iron pan.’

For IncrediblyShinyShart, who wears a prosthetic leg, the unique dining experience was not only a bonding opportunity but a moment of closure for the man.

‘The outpouring of compassion and empathy I received from my friends and my loved ones really helped me take on the challenge of this big change in my life,’ he said.

‘So I was taking care of this body part that took care of me for so long. I was paying homage to it and giving it a proper send-off.’

There is one person who for sure who is unaware that IncrediblyShinyShart ate his own leg – his mother.

‘My mom, who was helping me get back on my feet, so to speak, drove me back to pick it up,’ he said of when he first picked up the foot. ‘She doesn’t know I ate it, though.’

Following the accident, IncrediblyShinyShart moved to a new state and began a new job. He is in a new relationship and states that he is ‘so much happier.’

He added: ‘And it’s because of this time where my life was threatened and I persevered through it. Eating my foot was a funny and weird and interesting way to move forward.’

For the remainder of the foot, IncrediblyShinyShart made sure he kept it close by.

‘I have the ashes sitting in a jar on my girlfriend’s altar in her living room, and I’ll take it to my grave. It’s part of me, and this experience is a part of me, too,’ he said.

In the United States, there are no federal laws that outright ban cannibalism.

It is technically legal in 49 states, with Idaho being the only exception where you can go to prison for eating human flesh.
