Manhattan high school graduation evacuated after bomb threat

  • Vanguard High School was evacuated Tuesday morning, in the middle of graduation, when someone called a bomb threat into the Manhattan school

  • Cops rushed to the scene around 9:45am and got everyone out of the building

A Manhattan high school graduation was evacuated Tuesday morning after a bomb threat. 

Vanguard High School students and their families were gathered for the ceremony when someone called into the school and said two pipe bombs at the building would be detonated in just 35 minutes. 

Cops rushed to the Julia Richman Education Complex on the Upper East Side around 9:45am and promptly evacuated the building.

The building, located at East 67th Street and Second Avenue, in the Lenox Hill section of the Upper East Side, houses five other public schools: Urban Academy High School, Talent Unlimited High School, Manhattan International High School, P226M Junior High Annex and the Ella Baker School. 

Each of the six schools have their own floor.
