Queensland’s new Education Minister Grace Grace has some shocking spelling.

The woman in charge of the state’s primary and high school students set a bad example on Twitter when it came to spelling Torres Strait, which includes part of Queensland.

Ms Grace was tweeting about celebrating National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee Week with fellow Labor MP Peter Russo when her shocking spelling was revealed.

‘With Peter Russo and Aunty Rose from Torris Straight leading song to celebrate CCC Naidoc 2015 morning tea,’ she said of the event hosted by the state’s Crime and Corruption Commission.

Ms Grace published the tweet in December 2015, the same month she was appointed to cabinet as Queensland’s Multicultural Affairs Minister.

Only weeks after that social media faux pas, Ms Grace issued to her inner-Brisbane constituents a calendar for 2016 which was missing a date in August.

The fridge magnet forgot to include Tuesday, August 30.

Ms Grace was appointed as Queensland’s new Education Minister on Monday by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, who said her new 18-member cabinet would have an ‘equal representation of men and women’.
