A Melbourne man has raked in $171,000 by painting people’s houses using Airtasker – an online forum that lets users outsource tasks like cleaning, renovations and laundry.

Diz Jangra, who moved to Australia 12 years ago, has earned almost three times the average salary since signing up for the website in 2015, according to News.com.au.

The 37-year-old has quickly become Airtasker’s top member after completing 172 tasks for about $1,000 per job.

‘I have spent the last year just doing jobs on Airtasker and have been happy with all of the money coming into my account,’ he said.

However, along with the rewards, come long hours, he said.

‘It depends on the demand from clients, but I get work anytime from Monday to Sunday.’

‘I am willing to take jobs at night if that’s what is on offer and generally I work around 40 hours per week.’

Those thinking about signing up to Airtasker should be willing to work any time of any day, seven days a week, he said.

With $240million worth of tasks, more are members are expected to sign up.  

The most popular tasks include handiwork, gardening, cleaning, removalists and delivery/pick-up, according to the publication.
