Melania treated to Tchaikovsky with French first lady after Trump attacks Russia-Germany deal

First lady Melania Trump smiled as she took in a concert with French First Lady Brigitte Macron after her husband blew up at a breakfast meeting over Germany at the start of the NATO summit.

She put on a broad smile as she was seated next to Macron while her husband met with other world leaders after the tirade – including German chancellor Angela Merkel, who has been the subject of his attacks on defense funding.

The former model also was to attend a chocolate tasting and fashion show. 

Also there was Mojca Stropnik, the first lady of Slovenia, the first lady’s home country.

The first lady was visiting a music academy outside of Brussels where she was treated to a a Tchaikovsky performance along with other material at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo.

The 48-year-old Trump wore a navy blue Calvin Klein calf-length dress with white and green detail on the lapel and white Louboutin heels with their trademark red soles.

The spouses were welcomed to the music center by Amelie Derbaudrenghien, the partner of Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, and Ingrid Schulerud, the wife of NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. They toured the center and attended a piano and violin concert.

Other participating first ladies include Brigitte Macron of France and and Emine Erdogan of Turkey.

The music acedmy focuses on singing, violin, piano, cello, viola, and chamber music.

Also there was  Ingrid Schulerud, wife of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who has backed up Trump’s call for NATO members to pay more for defense, while simultaneously reminding the president spending has been on the rise since 2014.

After a tour, the spouses heard the concert in a room with tall windows.  

Trump was seated up front between Macron and Amelie Derbaudreghien.

The spouses first heard three pieces of classical music (one a Tchaikovsky) from two young women who train at the school, a pianist, the other a violinist. Details on names and exact music to come.

All of the musicians performing at this mini concert today are female, and all have been dressed for the occasion by local Belgian design house, Natan, famous here for dressing members of the Belgian royal family. This detail was featured prominently in opening remarks by the school’s Dean.

After the concert there will be a chocolate tasting for the spouses, as well as a presentation of a fashion show featuring hats by yet another local designer.
