Melbourne sex pest hunted by police after grabbing woman

  • Police are hunting a man who is believed to have sexually assaulted a woman
  • Man put his hands on the woman mand moved them toward her chest, cops say
  • She then turned around and yelled at the man who then ran off just after 5pm
  • Police are urging anyone who may recognise the man to contact Crimestoppers

Police are hunting a man who is believed to have sexually assaulted a woman at Melbourne Museum in June.

Officers understand the man was seen hanging around the Nicholson Street building in Carlton for several hours on June 26.

At around 4:35pm he approached a woman from behind and put his hands on her shoulders before moving them toward her chest, police say.

The woman turned around and yelled at the man who then ran off just after 5pm as she called for security. 

Authorities have now released images in a bid to identify the man.  

The offender was described as about 170cm tall with a thin build, light brown hair and fair skin.

He was wearing a dark grey Nike T-shirt, white, sport shorts, white socks and black runners, and is thought to have an eastern European accent. 

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
