DJ Paul Anderson has died seven years after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

His death was announced by the Mi-Soul Radio Twitter account today.

The tweet which paid tribute to the Mi-Sould and Kiss FM DJ read: ‘Myself and Mi-Sould are very sad to announce that our friend and colleague Paul has passed away.

‘Paul was with Mi-Soul from Day One and not only contributed to our output with his brilliant Saturday night mix but he was a superstar at all our live events.

‘At this time, there are no further details regarding Paul’s death. Our thoughts go out to Paul’s nearest and dearest. He will be solely missed.’

Paul was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011 and had to have an operation to removed part of his left lung and four of his ribs. 

 He had been in remission for six years before the cancer returned.

A crowdfunding page was set up before his death, it read.

A statement on the page read:  ‘We all know it will take months until Paul is able to return to his previous form, but it is his full intention and our greatest wish that he gets back to doing what he loves doing best.

‘With the support of his family, friends and community we can do this. It’s our chance to give something back to this very special man who has given us so much.’

Radio 1 Xtra DJ Trevor Nelson also took to social media to pay tribute to Paul and hailed him ‘one of the best ever.’

He said: ‘The 1st club I went to at 15 was called Crackers in Wardour st.The 1st club I went to regularly was the electric ballroom in Camden Town.The Dj was Paul Anderson,who in his heyday was one of the best ever.R.i.p ‘Trouble’
