Michelle Obama takes jab at Trump for ‘tweeting from bed’

Michelle Obama took a jab at President Trump during her visit to Toronto Tuesday.

The Former First Lady was joined by the Canadian Prime Minister’s wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, for a ladies outing and her first solo speaking engagement in Canada.

Media personality Trudeau introduced gal pal Obama to a crowd of roughly 3,000 people, who she gave a spiel to about a wide-range of topics at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

Obama kicked off the engagement by talking to listeners about the importance of effective communication and suggesting ‘it’s never a good idea’ to wake up in the morning and tweet your first thoughts ‘from bed.’

It’s clear she was referring to the President – who, aside from making a name as a business mogul and leader in the Oval Office, is notorious for being a social media ‘connoisseur’.

She retracted attention from the idea, though, and said: ‘What’s up with you young people? This tweetin’ and snapchattin’ … this is generationally something that I just don’t understand.

‘Would you take your journal, your diary and open it up in the center of the town square and let people just read it? Just come up and go ‘Ooh, this is how you felt? About your mother?,’ Obama said.

She also talked about the importance of proper grammar use and factuality when making influential public statements.

The mother-of-two touched base other vital topics such as female empowerment, mental health and diversity.

Following the speaking event, Obama and Trudeau took an afternoon stroll through the streets of Toronto.

The high-profile pair were captured holding shopping bags as they made their way to Portland Street’s swanky Gusto 101 Italian eatery.

It seems the two have become close as of late – as they were spotted together back in 2016 smiling and embracing one another during Trudeau’s first-ever visit to the United States.

It seems the March 2016 event is around the time Obama and Trudeau started a strong friendship

The high-profile ladies joked they were ‘soulmates’ as they are both care about the same issues and are married to political powerhouses

And according to blogTo, they even ‘joked about being soulmates’ as both are political spouses and strong advocates for young girls and women around the world.

During the event last year, the power duo came together at the U.S. Institute for Peace to speak on the topic.

Obama addressed her concern regarding a whopping 62million girls who were not receiving an education.

‘I know we can get the world united around this issue and change the fate of these 62 million girls forever … We can do this,’ Obama said in the statement.

Trudeau chimed in to complete the remarks about the topic she believes should be one of top priority.

‘Canada knows that for a society to be prosperous and more just and more peaceful, women and girls must be educated,’ the Quebec-born public speaker added.

‘And an educated young girl becomes an educated mother, mentor or friend, professional.

‘That makes for an educated society and an education makes for a more peaceful and just place to be and to grow in.’
