Miss Tourism Australia winner Diana Hills has fired back at cruel trolls who accused her of being too skinny to represent the country.

The 20-year-old – who was recently crowned the 2017 beauty pageant winner – revealed she has a thick skin from years of online body shaming abuse.

The blonde beauty was subjected to nasty remarks from trolls who criticised her thin physique after she was named as the Miss Tourism 2017 finalists last month.

‘I was surprised to see the comments at first but there were so many people with positive comments that it outweighed the negative,’ Diana told The Daily Telegraph. 

‘I have heard it my whole life so I’ve had to grow a thick skin. I’ve always been thin, my mum is thin. I know I’m healthy though so I’m OK with that. I know I’m fine.

‘I never thought Australians had a look – I’m an Australian and I represent Australia.’

Diana – who has been in the modelling industry since the tender age of 14 – will travel to Kuala Lumpur to compete against 40 beauty contestants from around the world on November 20.

The young woman, who hails from the Central Coast in New South Wales, follows in the footsteps of model Lara Worthington (nee Bingle).

The 30-year-old mother made headlines in 2006 after she appeared in the iconic ‘Where the bloody hell are ya?’ Tourism Australia advertisement.

Miss Tourism Australia is a national beauty pageant where the crowned winner hits the world stage to educate and promote tourism and cultural exchange.
